About the Dinner

The Growth Architects Club is a group of forward-thinking leaders of fast-growing businesses seeking to expand into international markets. We meet to exchange insights on some of today’s greatest global expansion challenges from a financial and operational perspective. Meetings begin at 6:30pm at some of San Francisco’s and Palo Alto’s most elite venues for exclusive networking, drinks and lively, insight-driven discussions.

On May 18th, we’ll be meeting at the One Market Restaurant for our first dynamic session of 2017. We’ll explore why a defined international expansion strategy is at the top of many boardrooms’ agenda, with a specific focus on how to mitigate the risks of global expansion. If you’re a senior executive with this on your agenda, we’d be delighted to welcome you.

The Discussion

Since the recent promotion of domestic growth policies, moves have been made to dissuade businesses from expanding internationally. But should these policies do so? Evidence would suggest the contrary.  With China’s economy growing by 6.7% and India’s up to 7% last year alone, appetite for investing in emerging markets should be sky high.
And of course, high-level growth is not isolated to these populous nations only. There are countless success stories of new market entry strategies, like sheer ecommerce growth and the growing levels of smartphone penetrations into Latin America.
But while the opportunities presented by international expansion are plain to see, it’s well documented that there can be a number of obstacles too. Consider Google – they would probably be the first to admit that when they entered China, mistakes were made. Evidently, it’s a robust strategy which overcomes challenges that allows for successful investment in a developing economy.
Suppliers, regulations, languages, culture and governments are just some of the areas that require real understanding.
So what is the key challenge holding your business back from international expansion? And, would investment in these tiger economies see your business enjoy double digit growth?

If you want to find out solutions and answers to your international expansion questions, join 15 other strategic leaders from global enterprises at the One Market Restaurant in San Francisco. We’ll place these questions and more at the heart of our intimate roundtable discussion, protected under Chatham House Rules.
